It's heart breaking to have these racial injustice conversations with my 8 and 12- year old boys. Having the courage to move past the dissociation of my own experience of prejudice, racism, and discrimination, with the goal of breaking the silence, to equip my beautiful, creative, and witty Black boys with the tools they need to survive being Black in America. Unfortunately, we know this is only one of many ongoing conversations. 😥💔 Just take a look at the irony in this picture, of a Black Mom and her son, clad in the American flag colors. Sporting the colors of a nation where Black people have never been free, but must still survive. I am very proud of the resilience and fortitude of Black people in America and worldwide too! I can appreciate the ways in which various allies (i.e. friends, colleagues, students, clients) have reached out to show their support regarding the plight of Blacks living in America and worldwide too. Many have expressed difficulty in knowing what to say or do to show their support. Any effort on your part is much appreciated by me as I know that your intentions are good.
